ToolLab Voice Tools give you access to state-of-the-art AI text-to-speech and speech-to-text through OpenAI's models — using your own API key. We never store your key or your audio files. The Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) model means you control your usage and costs directly through your OpenAI account.

How Text to Speech Works

ToolLab Voice Tools use a Bring Your Own Key model. You provide your OpenAI API key, which is used only for the duration of your request — we never store, log, or share your key. Your text and audio files are processed and immediately discarded. You control your OpenAI billing directly.

How much does it cost? ToolLab is free to use. OpenAI charges separately for API usage — TTS starts at $0.015 per 1,000 characters and STT at $0.006 per minute of audio. Check OpenAI's pricing page for current rates.

Is my data secure? Yes. Your API key and audio/text are never stored on ToolLab servers. Processing happens in memory and data is discarded immediately after the request completes.

What audio formats are supported? Speech to Text accepts MP3, WAV, and M4A files. Text to Speech outputs MP3 audio.

Can I use Voice Tools on mobile? Yes — the interface is responsive and works on both desktop and mobile browsers.
